Rosanne Acosta
Rosanne Acosta is a wife, mother (my son is pictured above), teacher, student, sister, friend, daughter and above all she has the wonderful privilege of being a doula.
She was born and raised in the Netherlands. A place where midwifery care is the norm and home birth is more common than hospital birth. She was born at home and so were her siblings. She grew up and moved to the United States and married the love of her life. She was so shocked to learn about the maternity care here in the US. She knew right away that there needed to be a change and that she wanted to be a part of that change. She decided she wanted to become a birth doula and midwife. "I want to spend my life helping women to have the birth experience they desire. I want to support women in their choices about pregnancy and childbirth. I want to empower women to take charge of their bodies." "For anyone searching for the right doula I fully recommend Rosanne! She did a fantastic job and went above and beyond what I expected." After being a doula and placenta specialist for several years, Rosanne found herself expecting her first child in July 2014. She hired a doula to be by her side for her birth. She also hired a midwife to deliver her son at a local birthing center.
After an uncomplicated pregnancy she had a beautiful unmedicated birth with her midwives and doula just as planned. She feels she can draw on this experience to help women manage pain in their labors. She is able to empathize and know what they feel. Rosanne also had another specialist encapsulate her placenta and had a very positive experience. " I always love to tell people: I never slept those first few months with a newborn. But I also never felt tired. I credit my placenta capsules with this. They always gave me a boost of energy. I could also tell a difference in my milk supply after taking the capsules." |
